		<description>Like Andre I spent several months on Mpalela (as we knew it) but even further back in the mid 70&#039;s. An experience to remember. I&#039;m just sorry I didn&#039;t know as much about birds then as now! I did manage to get some pics out of the event - if you or anyone on the island is interested as to what it looked like then, there is a link to an online album featuring a whole lot of pics.

		<description>Hi.  I have stunning memories of Mpalella island as we knew it in the eighties . God&#039;s own.  I have lived 9 months of my military on that island and it became a life long obsession to return to where I left a part of me behind in December of 1984.  I became a teacher in SA and would like to return one day and live there.  My wife was born in Windhoek and we may become eligible soon.  Does the old fort still exist?  I see you have changed our main checkpoint into what it deserves.
An answer or small informative note would be greatly appreciated.
